As a representational artist
the concepts of light, color and value are what structure my paintings.
The brilliant use of light by Caravaggio, Sorolla, and Hopper continually
inspire me. It is light and how it moves across the picture plane that
compels me to express how I feel about a subject. I love the forgiving
nature of oil and acrylic, and seeing slivers of paint represent grapes,
trees, or people is truly a joy . My work may be realistic or symbolic,
but the very heart of my painting is always mood and how it impacts the
viewer.
