This class will be offered again May thru June, 2010

This class will focus on longer term painting and planning in preparation for a student exhibit in October 2010 at the Cultural Arts Center in Whitewater, WI. If you want to be part of the exhibit you will need to select a recipe (yours, or 'buddy-up' with a chef) and match it with a painting depicting an appropriate subject. Use any water or dry media. Your instructor will work with you individually and with the entire group to coordinate an attractive eclectic collection of art and recipes. Beyond creating a painting you will participate in the planning necessary to help make this a successful shared adventure for all. Your artwork must be completed by June 30, 2010 so it can be professionally photographed. We will publish an artistically designed artwork/recipe book with reproductions of the exhibit artwork. Individual artists can pre-order as many copies as he or she wants to give as gifts or sell. The book will be ready in time for the opening reception of the Whitewater exhibit. This class is not required to be a part of the exhibit/book project or vise versa , but just consider the studio time that you would gain.  Facility and Instruction fee: $ 130 (8 weeks). ·         You will be working in a multi media environment.  Artists are invited to bring watercolor, pastel, charcoal, acrylic, graphite and colored pencil.  Many students are at an intermediate/advanced level.  Expect to be challenged and inspired by others in the class.

·         We will start each day with classroom instruction/lecture in chairs seated near the kitchen.  I will have topics of interest and optional creative challenge assignments.  Feel free to opt out of any or all lectures, demonstrations, and creative challenge assignments to do studio work on your own.

·         We can use the kitchen to make coffee and warm lunch.  Lunch hour is scheduled from noon to 1 pm.  You can brown bag it or drive to a nearby restaurant.

·         Each student can work at his or her own pace.  The focus will be on the process versus the end product.  Some participants may want to sketch & paint outdoors if the weather permits.
